Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information The Watcher HQ may receive, why it is used, and the choices available to readers, subscribers, and people who contact us.

Effective date: July 23, 2026

Privacy at a glance

We collect what is useful

Contact details you submit, newsletter information, and limited technical data needed to operate and understand the site.

We do not sell reader data

Information may be handled by service providers that help run the site, but it is not sold or rented as a product.

You remain in control

You can unsubscribe from marketing and ask about access, correction, or deletion of personal information, subject to applicable law.

Information we may collect

Information you provide

  • Your name, email address, subject, and message when you use the contact form or email us.
  • Your email address and subscription preferences when you join The Watcher Insider or another newsletter list.
  • Information, photographs, links, specifications, or documents you choose to send for a correction, story, review, or collaboration inquiry.

Technical and usage information

When you visit the site, hosting, security, analytics, and similar systems may process information such as IP address, approximate location, device and browser type, referring page, pages viewed, timestamps, and cookie or similar identifiers. This helps the site function, remain secure, and show which content is useful.

Embedded and linked services

Pages may contain embedded video or links to services such as YouTube, Rexx Timepieces, Meshberg Watches, and Rexx StudioWorks. An embedded service may receive technical information when it loads. Following an external link takes you to that provider, whose own privacy terms apply.

How information is used

  • To operate, secure, maintain, and improve The Watcher HQ.
  • To answer questions, corrections, collaboration proposals, and editorial messages.
  • To send requested newsletters and related updates. You can unsubscribe through the link in a message or by contacting us.
  • To understand aggregate readership, traffic sources, content performance, and technical issues.
  • To prevent abuse, protect legal rights, and comply with applicable obligations.

Depending on the context and applicable law, processing may rely on your consent, the need to provide a requested service, legitimate interests in operating and securing the publication, or legal obligations.

Cookies and service providers

The site may use essential cookies and similar technologies for functionality, security, preferences, analytics, forms, accessibility tools, and newsletter delivery. Browser controls can block or delete cookies, although some features may work differently afterward.

Hosting, security, analytics, email, form, accessibility, and embedded-media providers may process limited information on our behalf or under their own policies. We aim to use only the access reasonably needed for those services.

External ecosystem links: a link to a connected project does not itself transfer your contact-form or newsletter information to that project. If a message is clearly intended for another ecosystem brand, we may ask permission or direct you to the appropriate contact path.

When information may be shared

We do not sell, trade, or rent personal information. Information may be shared only when reasonably necessary with:

  • service providers that host, secure, analyze, or support the website and communications;
  • professional advisers or authorities when required to protect rights, investigate misuse, or comply with law;
  • a successor if the publication or relevant assets are reorganized, subject to appropriate protections; or
  • another person or organization when you request or clearly authorize that disclosure.

Retention, security, and international processing

Information is kept only for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose collected, operational records, dispute resolution, security, or legal requirements. Contact correspondence may be retained when it remains relevant to an article, correction, collaboration, or ongoing relationship.

Reasonable technical and organizational safeguards are used, but no internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. Some service providers may process data in countries other than your own and apply their own lawful transfer safeguards.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request information about personal data, access it, correct it, ask for deletion or restriction, object to certain processing, or receive a portable copy. You may also withdraw consent where processing relies on consent and complain to an applicable data-protection authority.

Requests are reviewed under the law that applies to the situation. We may need enough information to verify the request and may retain limited records where legally permitted or required.

Children

The Watcher HQ is a general-audience publication and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly request personal information from children under 16.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when the site, its services, or applicable requirements change. The effective date above identifies the latest published version. Material changes will be presented reasonably clearly on the site.
